We have now got a shop inwhich students sell bits of their work from. We were asked to do a few corsages/ badges or buttons and around 5 card designs for new year or christmas. Below you will see my card designs for the festive period and corsages I made from bits and bobs left over.

2nd year work

Rectella brief.

These final samples below are what I've produced for my first live brief of the term based on fabric manipulation. The brief was to create samples for bedding/cushion design for a company called Rectella which is based in Manchester. My theme was 'Dreamy Gardens' which I hope is evident below! :)....

Each design sample was all about looking at it on a larger scale and how it could be developed and taken further. All of my above samples would look way too much say as a full bed spread for instant, however you have to look at the potential and thats what Rectella wanted- to see if they would work as an egding of a pillow and duvet, or part of a patchwork cushion cover for example. These were what I came up with for final ones to be presented to the company. :)

1st Year work Fda Textile Design with Fashion

CAD- Wallpaper brief using Photoshop. Theme - Enchantment :)

All the elements in these designs were initially hand drawn then manipulated and combined together in photoshop.

Applied textiles brief. Theme- Wallpaper design-The Built Environment :)

To create these my initial research was photographs I'd taken from around the world from holidays I'd been on. They included Bankok, London, Paris and Egypt. I began drawing sections of the buildings and wanted to focus on the simple linear aspects. I had screens made up of all the images over lapping and screen printed onto plain cream lining wallpaper and added splashes of colour using inks to bring the outlines to life. I began to work into them by cutting certain shapes out and by adding machine stitch. Some of these patterns I then manipulated in photoshop and put some of them into block repeats.

Fashion construction brief. Theme- 'Down at the bottom of the Garden'

Here is the dress I made for my fashion brief then wore at our tutors fashion show last year. As my theme was gardens I wanted to design a gown that was simple and soft. I wanted all the impact be in the detailed hand crafted corsages which were bees, flowers and butterflies. They were cut on the laser cutting to prevent fraying then embellished and worked into with stitch and beading detail and attached to the dress edging each one by hand. So you can imagine how relieved I was to have it finished! and then get the chance to model it.

Chair for exhibition

This was the chair I exhibited as well with the wallpaper. The same pattern is reflected onto a cushion and hand painted onto an old chair.

Surface Design for Interiors

This is what I displayed at the exhibition back in 2009 for my Foundation Studies in Art & Design course before starting my degree at Blackburn. My intial idea with the project was to create floral designs for wall coverings and show how Spring shapes/patterns can also be incorporated into our homes. To produce the final outcome I experimented with different printing techniques and stuck with screen-printing. My main aim was to create designs that would create a calm and welcoming atmosphere.
