Personal Statement

I am an enthusiastic
innovative designer with a passion for surface pattern and colour and I want to
transform my degree into a successful career. I am hard
working and enjoy challenging myself. I can work under pressure to meet
deadlines using my time management and organisational skills well. I like to
work part of a team as much as I enjoy working independently. I have experience
of working with Adobe Photoshop, screen printing and laser cut technology.
These techniques have built my latest CAD works. I enjoy working using a
combination of hand drawings using different mediums to then manipulate in
Photoshop and continue to work into. I enjoy working on different scales with
colour and using various printing techniques. I like the whole design process
from initial drawings through to creating mood boards; they allow me to
visually explore ideas and experiment with compositions. As a designer I tend
to be influenced and get inspiration from colour, different textures and shape.
I feel my print designs could adapt to many areas including interiors, fabrics
and stationery. My latest exhibited works were a collection of 2D & 3D
wallpapers. My work has previously usually been linked with a floral theme; my
current works consist of decorative butterfly patterns. I thoroughly revel in
the possibilities and qualities created using CAD within my work. I am hoping
to obtain experience within the design industry to broaden my skills and gain
valuable knowledge to pursue my aspirations and creative flare into a career I
can excel in.
